Harry and Meghan Crown Themselves King and Queen of Sorts

By the NotTheGlobe Desk

LONDON — Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have solved an awkward constitutional problem by simply ignoring it.

Following the Palace's reminder that the couple are now essentially private citizens, the Sussexes have reportedly responded by creating their own monarchy.

Under the new arrangement, Harry will be King of Sussex, while Meghan will serve as Queen of Sussex, California and Selected Parts of Britain.

The couple have not yet announced a coronation date, although sources say it will probably coincide with Harry's next "significant public engagement."

"We were surprised to learn we weren't working royals," a Sussex spokesman said. "So we've decided to become something else."

The new royal household is expected to include a Chief of Self-Importance, a Minister for Strategic Briefings and a Lord High Commissioner for Explaining Why This Isn't Actually About Attention.

Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace has reportedly declined an invitation to the coronation, citing "a prior engagement, a strong preference for the existing monarchy, and general fatigue."
